The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, the Senior, Internal Auditor will be part of a dynamic team in providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve Gildan’s operations. In the role, the incumbent will assist in the development and execution of an internal audit program helping the organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The role

  • Support the Internal Audit team in the execution and reporting phases of strategic audit mandates per the Internal Audit Plan and as appropriate, any special project requested by Management and the Audit & Finance Committee
  • Lead the planning, execution and reporting phases of rotational audit mandates per the Internal Audit Plan
  • Assist in the Management Action Plans follow-up process to ensure previously identified observations have been addressed and remediation actions implemented properly
  • Identify risks and internal control gaps and develop solutions to strengthen controls, improve profitability and aid management decision-making capability
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of internal audit approaches/templates and methodology to optimize the use and effectiveness of team resources.
  • Maintain an organized and well documented internal audit function following the fundamental principles, standards and guidance provided by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
  • Participate in special projects and investigations
  • Works closely with various teams and business leaders throughout the organization
  • Based in the Montreal Corporate Head Office
  • Hybrid remote work (~3 days in office per week)

The requirements

  • 4 - 5 years of relevant experience in audit and/or internal controls
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Relevant certifications/designations (e.g. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE))
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience in manufacturing environment considered an asset
  • Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting concepts in a public company setting
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Team player
  • Self-motivated and autonomous
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving, and growing environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Visio and Power Point)
  • Expected to travel up to ~15 - 20% of the time
  • This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or requiring services in a language other than French – mainly English.
