The opportunity

The Assistant, Financial Reporting & SOX Compliance, supports the Finance and SOX teams by assisting in the preparation, analysis, and integrity of financial data in compliance with IFRS and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. This position sits in the Finance Department, reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting.

 

The role

  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial transactions and balances for external reporting compliance.
  • Prepare and update sales reserves schedules for the imprintables and retail markets on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Assist in the monthly and quarterly preparation of inventory schedules, including investigation of discrepancies in collaboration with other departments.
  • Assist in the execution of SOX compliance activities, including SOX testing and documentation of results.
  • Identify control deficiencies and propose recommendations for improvement or remediation.
  • Maintain documentation related to SOX compliance efforts and participate in the preparation of audit workpapers, findings, and reports.

The requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least one to two (1-2) years of relevant experience in financial reporting, SOX compliance, internal audit, or external audit.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas); experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with reporting and data analysis tools such as Power BI or similar software is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Occasional extended hours during reporting or audit cycles.
