The opportunity

The IT Support Engineer will play a crucial role in processing low to mid-complexity level incidents and service requests following established procedures. The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for gathering necessary information, providing initial support, and escalating issues when required.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Supervise and implement Infrastructure projects in plants related to textile manufacturing, sewing, socks, distribution centers and support areas of all Gildan business areas, as well as in their offices.
  • Deliver project scopes, technically lead supplier field visits and provide all support to the purchasing area to execute tenders and purchases of telecommunications infrastructure (including in accordance with Gildan policies.
  • Install and configure all types of Peripherals on the network, as well as give them proper preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Address user requirements through the Helpdesk system, which are assigned to your person.
  • Help users with operational problems related to IT infrastructure. Ex.: operation problems of servers, switches, routers, etc.
  • Ensure that users comply with IT policies and procedures and encourage them to do so.
  • Supervise external and internal suppliers in the preventive and corrective maintenance of all the company's infrastructure components. Ex.: located in IT Rooms, TCs, MES and all devices connected to the Gildan network and other networks managed by Helpdesk.
  • Plan execution and communicate to all users about the preventive and corrective maintenance program of the IT infrastructure.
  • Maintain updated Hardware and Software inventory in your area. Including plans and technical information of the network and IT infrastructure.
  • Perform any other function that the immediate Manager indicates in relation to the operation.

 

Profile & Core Competencies

  • At least Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Engineering or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering background from a reputed public or private university with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Experience as Service Desk, Helpdesk or Network Support.
  • Experience in remote support of IT problems and escalation of incidents to other IT Areas.
  • Experience in Service Desk Platforms (Service-Now or similar)Strong understanding of IT Networking services (Internet Services, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN LAN SERVICES).
  • Good crisis management, self-control and stress management skills.
  • Capacity to understand and evaluate priorities and urgencies.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills with a desire to collaborate with others.
  • An open-minded professional with a positive attitude, manner and behavior
  • Have the ability to adapt to a changing environment in a professional and impactful way
  • Work under pressure and potentially to take on the challenge of performing the job
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English.
