The opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development, and as an essential member of a team, the Sr Manager, Corporate Development is responsible for leading projects aligned with Gildan’s strategic priorities. Projects and priorities could vary across the year and include Gildan’s strategic plan, large capital investment opportunities, acquisitions, divestures, and various strategic projects in support of Gildan’s sustainable growth strategy. 

 

The role

  • Lead the development of the company’s Strategic Plan, develop clear milestones, monitor progress, and provide data-driven, actionable recommendations to achieve objectives.
  • Support the company’s M&A strategy, including managing the acquisition pipeline, reviewing trends impacting adjacent industries and continuously updating Gildan’s competitive landscape.
  • Lead potential transactions including researching target companies, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, and integration planning.
  • Manage and coordinate market and feasibility studies, due diligence of potential new markets for organic expansion.
  • Develop financial models and tools to evaluate the Company’s operational performance and organizational effectiveness in strategic areas.
  • Evaluate and validate the Company’s major capital projects.

The requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance. MBA would be an asset. 
  • CFA designation. CPA would be an asset.
  • 6-8 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate strategy, or corporate development.
  • Able to synthesize information and complex issues to make informed decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to conduct analysis, financial modeling and business valuations (quantitative and qualitative analysis).
  • Superior analytical and project management skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to being a top performer and delivering outstanding results.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a sense of urgency.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative attitude; also, able to work independently.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or requiring services in a language other than French – mainly English.
