The opportunity

The Sustainability Communications Intern will provide strategic and operational support to Gildan’s Sustainability Communications team in the context of Gildan’s refreshed corporate sustainability strategy following the acquisition of HanesBrands. The Intern will help Gildan plan for a transitional 2026 Sustainability Report considering ongoing organizational changes and data availability constraints. The role will also support data collection and project management of the company’s responses to key external assessments (CDP, S&P CSA) in addition to metrics database management/tracking and other research/peer benchmarking needs that may arise.

Provide an overview for internal stakeholders on what a transition to ISSB-aligned reporting would require (where the current gaps are) compared to previous company sustainability reports.
  • Support the response management process of Gildan’s 2026 CDP questionnaire as well as the 2026 S&P CSA, including SME engagement, data collection, and drafting or validating responses.
  • Help maintain Gildan’s master sustainability metrics database mapped to disclosure priorities and update our approach to data collection to prepare for the 2026 Report. Conduct ad hoc research and peer benchmarking on a variety of sustainability disclosure topics as they arise.

The requirements

  • Sustainability, Communications, Management, Finance
  • Demonstrated interest in corporate communications and sustainability data/reporting
  • Experience or familiarity with global sustainability disclosure standards (IFRS S1/S2, SASB, GRI)
  • Experience or familiarity with third-party sustainability assessments (CDP, S&P CSA, Corporate Knights)
