The opportunity

The Manager, Financial Accounting will analyze financial information and reports to identify financial risks, opportunities, trends and discrepancies and offer insights to help with the decision-making process. The position sits in the Finance Department reporting directly to the Director, Financial Reporting.

 

The role

  • Assist in the daily operations and management of the Finance Department.
  • Coordinate and oversee the closing process to ensure that all transactions are properly recorded and on a timely basis.  
  • Establish and maintain controls around financial systems, processes, and procedures. 
  • Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis Department to coordinate forecast vs. actuals, the profit & loss review and documentation.
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations to ensure completeness, accuracy and timely resolution of any errors or exceptions.
  • Manage special projects and process improvements initiatives resulting in more efficient and streamlined accounting operations.

The requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA, CMA, ACCA certifications are considered as assets.
  • At least ten (10) years of Finance experience along with strong spreadsheet skills.
  • At least two (2) years' experience managing a team.
  • Ability to speak and present information in a clear concise way in front of customers.
  •  Ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • High level of interpersonal skill and professionalism required.
  • Ability to work under demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
