The opportunity

The Transportation and Logistics Operations Analyst will be responsible for the administration of all container tracking, customs follow up, and shipment updating in E1 system for the Transportation and Logistics functions for finished goods for the Gildan Printwear Division. This position sits within the Transportation and Logistics (TandL) Department, reporting directly to the TandL Operations Manager.

The role

  • Provide complete and correct visibility of all containers, air shipments and ground transportation traffic to effectively track and monitor the movements of Gildan’s containers and give visibility of their status and location from point of origin (Manufacturing/Distribution Center (DC)) to final destination (DC/Customer).
  • Liaise with the relevant stakeholders (Customer Service, Warehousing, Inventory Control, Manufacturing and Customs) to resolve issues regarding transportation.
  • Develop, format and distribute weekly/monthly KPIs for freight and freight related services and measures.
  • Perform cost analyses of market rates and negotiate rates as needed with freight forwarders or contract carriers on new routes.
  • Maintain updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all markets including all relevant personnel changes and procedures.
  • Coordinate freight claims for goods damaged in transit.

The requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance or a related field.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a logistics, customs or inventory control position.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
