The opportunity

The Developer, Business Intelligence will be responsible for interpreting the business needs and for documenting and developing the reporting analytics that meet those needs. This includes the design, development, maintenance, integration and modeling. This position manages projects through the full lifecycle, from inception to completion, with minimal supervision, while ensuring solutions are accurate, efficient and aligned with established requirements. This position sits within the Information Technology Department, reporting to the Developer, Business Intelligence.

The role:

  • Extract, transform and load data from various sources into the Snowflake database, while supporting BI Analysts and other departments with data integration requests.
  • Review, understand and translate clearly defined technical specifications into data warehouse, database and/or business intelligence solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, test and perform code reviews for queries, scripts, stored procedures, database objects, indices, triggers and other developed processes.
  • Apply strong SQL performance tuning knowledge to interpret execution plans, identify query bottlenecks, implement appropriate remediation, and review and document solution performance.
  • Create use cases and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts for developed solutions, collaborating with the team and end users as appropriate.
  • Proactively identify, document, track and resolve issues throughout the development and testing phases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

The requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data warehouse and ETL-related development, including experience working with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and proficiency in Python.
  • Strong knowledge of the concepts and techniques related to data modelling, database query optimisation, data access, and the design, development and implementation of ETL and data quality solutions.
  • Experience working with DevOps tools and technologies, including GIT, Jenkins and Sonar.
  • Strong database knowledge, including data import and export, users, roles, privileges, schema and object management, and session monitoring.
